Cadaver Course

Upcoming Courses:  August 5th+6th, 2023
4 students enrolled

8 9 10 candice 1As an injector, you are only as good as your foundation and understanding of human anatomy.  This private cadaver course is designed to take your game to the next level through an intimate, small-group dissection with several national and globally-recognized facial plastic surgeons.  If you have attended a cadaver course in the past, you likely were provided with a specimen and a set of instructions.  Without prior dissection experience, you probably spent more time trying to dissect “correctly” than learning anatomy.  Our course takes the opposite approach.  We focus less on the process of dissecting and more on the actual anatomy being dissected.  Similar to a private tutor, our cadaver dissections are performed by facial plastic surgeons with extensive experience and understanding, but with you right alongside them.  This way, all you need to focus on is taking in the anatomic structures, structural planes, and injection approaches.  Each small group will complete a 3-hour intensive cadaver session.  While your group is not dissecting, you will have the opportunity to watch the other dissection groups, giving you additional opportunities to observe the anatomy.  With very few structural requirements, our surgeons have the opportunity to cater each individual dissection to the level of experience of their group.  The injectors have an open floor to ask questions and dig into the details that might best benefit their day-to-day practice.  Upon completion, we aim to leave you feeling confident and ready to take on each patient in an entirely new light.

Of course, we could not put on a cadaver course without an exceptional Colorado summer rooftop cocktail event.  This themed networking and educational event will be held Saturday night at a unique Denver location with a breathtaking view of the city skyline and the Rocky Mountains.  There will be appetizers and plenty of specialty cocktails, so bring your appetite!

Please note that these are standard responses to commonly asked questions and may not accurately reflect all individual circumstances. All trainees and models will be vetted for suitability for each course based on, but certainly not limited to, criteria such as background, training, and specific specifics of each individual course. Selection criteria will be based on factors suited to achieving optimal patient outcomes in a training environment.
Our cadaver course is focused specifically on injection anatomy. We will highlight structures that are most important for injectors to know and understand including vascular structures, toxin-targeted muscles, fat pads, structural ligaments, important tissue planes, and so much more. Take a look at the curriculum (link) tab for more details.
Each small group will dissect the specimen together, but it will be led by an experienced facial plastic surgeon. The surgeon will prepare and somewhat pre-dissect the specimen for ease, but we want our students to get involved. We want you to glove up and get in there. Ask questions. Point out structures. Though the students are not necessarily dissecting an individual specimen by themselves, the purpose of this small group setting is to avoid the confusion of dissecting and instead focus on the anatomy. This is your opportunity to have a 1 on 1 with a facial plastic surgeon, like a first assistant in the OR.
We welcome all registered healthcare professionals to attend the cadaver course including RNs, NPs, PAs, DMD/DDSs, and MD/DOs. You will be asked to submit your active certification after registration.
This course is specifically designed for injectors. We will ask about your level of experience when you book the course to be sure that you and this course are a great match.
No. You do not need to have an active Colorado license to attend this course.
There is a maximum of 6 students per specimen and surgeon, but the final number will depend on the total number of students attending each session.
This depends on the total number of students attending each session. As a rule of thumb, there will be 1 surgeon per each group of 6 students.
No, due to HIPAA regulations, no photography or videography of the specimens are allowed. To protect those who donated their bodies to science, any and all photos or videos must not include any cadaver specimens whatsoever.
Yes, that is the entire point of our small groups. We encourage all of our students to ask questions while dissecting with our surgeons. We just ask that you be respectful of your fellow students.
Yes, all of the specimens are thoroughly tested for diseases such as HIV, HepC, and even COVID.
We ask our surgeons and students to treat each dissection as an operating room procedure. Wear your PPE and treat every instrument like a sharp. It is your responsibility to not only protect yourself, but those around you.
The dissections will be filmed and displayed live on the large TV screens on the walls. We believe this allows for every student to have a great view of each structure being dissected.
